The purpose of this article was to analyze what is needed in organizational DEI policies to authentically engage American Black Women leaders. Using Timothy Clark’s four stages of psychological safety model the author provides examples of when the stages are intact within an organization and when they are not. The article correlates how “pet to threat” career phenomenon intersects with a lack of psychological safety in the workplace.
