Fr. Michael Garanzini is Secretary of Higher Education for the Society of Jesus. In this capacity, he has been overseeing the first meeting of the International Association of Jesuit Universities in Bilbao, Spain, one of his key initiatives for Jesuit higher education.
Prior to his current role as Secretary, Fr. Garanzini was president of Loyola of Chicago from 2001 to 2015. Before LUC, he was on the faculty at Georgetown, Fordham, St. Louis, and Regis, and is now back at Fordham where he is a visiting research faculty member. Fr. Garanzini graduated from Saint Louis University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and received a doctorate in psychology and religion from the University of California, Berkeley.
