Executive Leadership Program
The Executive Leadership Program (ELP) is unique to Seattle University. It is an 8-month certificate program that provides an in-depth exploration into leadership and its personal meaning in each participant’s life. The Leadership Executive MBA (LEMBA) at Seattle University also begins with this unique leadership experience.
In small class settings and with one-on-one executive coaching, you’ll have the opportunity to discover how you’re perceived, who you want to be as a leader, and what leadership means in your life. You’ll also gain a deeper knowledge of leadership, greater self-confidence, and a keen awareness of the ethics and values that guide executive decisions. You’ll come away with a strong appreciation of how your actions as a leader can affect positive change in your organization and the world.
Executive MBA Program

Students will understand the uses for Network Design and be able to apply it to real world problems. In addition, they will work through framing a problem, and using project management steps to drive a solution to completion. Students work in teams on a semester-long problem, acting as off-site consultants. Project types can include: impact of a change in inventory policy, near shoring impacts, risk mitigation/supply interruptions.
Applied Lean Six Sigma
Led by an experienced professional in Lean and Six Sigma practices, students learn advanced tools of continuous improvement through class work and real-world projects with Marquette University departments and local organizations. Students participate in a continuous improvement project with a team throughout the semester. The students also have the benefit of receiving guidance on their projects from an assigned experienced professional mentor.
Applied Procurement Course
Whether in the classroom or on-site, students in the Applied Procurement course work alongside some of the best in the business. Students are taught by experienced procurement professionals for one class period and spend two half-days each week in Milwaukee-area firms working on real-world tasks consistent with the content covered in class. A trifecta of learning occurs for each student, from their company sponsor, their instructor and their peers. This course has realized significant business value for our company partners.
Lecture Series Webcasts
36 individual Webcasts. The Center for Asian Business in the College of Business Administration at Loyola Marymount University has received a major grant over a three year period from the International Communications Foundation in Seoul, Korea, to provide a lecture series and entertainment media screenings for the LMU community—students, faculty, staff and neighbors. The International Communication Foundation was founded in 1982 by Young Bin Min, chairman of YBM/Si-sa, a Seoul-based corporation. The foundation's mission is to increase awareness and promote the status of Korean culture worldwide.
The purpose for the series of monthly events is to provide opportunities for LMU students to gain a deeper understanding of East Asian countries in context, and eventually to be better equipped to work in this competitive global marketplace after they enter the workforce. America is no longer the sole superpower in today’s global society. Unfortunately, however, foreigners know more about us than we do about them. As LMU is a major university located on the Pacific Rim in one of the world’s most culturally diverse cities, and located in the world capital of the entertainment media, the Center for Asian Business seeks to help the LMU community fill the gap. We are deeply grateful that the ICF grant will allow us to provide these special events.
Big Data Analytics for Executives
Big data analytics can transform organizational performance.
Fordham faculty, director RP Raghupathi from the Center for Digital Transformation, will introduce the core concepts of big data analytics and related technologies. Participants will become familiar with distributed, cloud-based approaches to handling big data sets—superior techniques to traditional relational models.
The faculty will use hands-on exercises in big data analytics on several platforms—including AWS, Cloudera and IBM BigInsights—and offer concrete, applicable information about:
- The Hadoop platform, including the Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS) and MapReduce (M/R) framework
- Big data analytics life cycle, technologies, development and management
- Privacy and security
The decisions we make every day are based on our understanding of how the world works, or how we believe it should work. But, would you be able to articulate your personal mission if asked? Many of us cannot. How you lead your work team and how you are seen as a leader in the larger organization is a reflection of what you value and how you live your life. A strong leader, one who others choose to follow, understands how their values and personal mission translate into professional behaviors and lead to action within their organization.
Workplace Strategies and Communication Styles
In all sorts of interactions, there are distinctive styles of communication that one may take, depending on the situation. For example, in conflict situations, there are a variety of methods to dealing with, analyzing, and working through conflict. Communication (written, nonverbal, and verbal) influences the ability to get an interview, a promotion, lunch with a potential mentor, or even fired. Finally, some research has suggested that people tend to have some primary styles that they use across situations (e.g., Norton’s Communication Styles: dominant, dramatic, contentious, animated, impression leaving, relaxed, open, or friendly). The interesting thing about communication is that every person uses communication differently - what works for one person may not work for another. While there are different styles that could be used in diverse contexts, we will also discuss how no single style is the most effective in every situation.

Explore your wellbeing in an integrated and measured method using the five categories described in Wellbeing: The Five Essential Elements by Tom Rath and Jim Harter. You will learn how specific elements affect leadership impact and why the happiness advantage is mission-critical for solid work ethic.
