The Consideration of Software as a Service Cloud Computing Across Hospital Functions
Since the introduction of the internet and software-based solutions, organizations have sought cutting edge technology to aid in solving their problems. During the late 1990’s, information technology began to enter its first phases of acceptance into organizational processes. During the next two decades, software as a service (SaaS) providers began to alter their product lines to better suit their customer’s needs. Developing for-rent software product lines that are specifically tailored has vast amounts of benefits for both the software company and their customers. The industry has grown substantially mostly due to the advances in information technologies as well as rising costs to run increasingly complex organizations. Users benefit from SaaS applications because of the payment structure and the consistency of I.T improvement done by their trusted software partners. American organizations are once again at an inflection point in choosing the correct technology infrastructure for the following decade. Hospitals are perfect candidates for SaaS solutions due to their massive operating costs, cross departmental issues, data usage, and unique staffing requirements. This paper is intended to showcase the issues that hospitals are facing and where SaaS technology can aid in specific departments as well as overall hospital improvements.
