Black Girls Code: Rightful Termination or Hostile Takeover?

Kimberly Bryant, founder of the nonprofit Black Girls Code, was removed as CEO in August 2022 after an eight month suspension. On August 11, Bryant filed a federal lawsuit alleging wrongful suspension and conflict of interest by board member Heather Hiles. According to Bryant, her job as a board member and chief executive was terminated one day after filing the lawsuit. Bryant believes her termination is a result of a hostile takeover initiated by Board Member Heather Hiles.
