Hunger at Home is a nonprofit organization that delivers sustainable solutions to bolster food security and self-sufficiency for a healthier and more equitable Silicon Valley. As the COVID-19 pandemic exacerbated the global food insecurity problem, Hunger at Home responded by transforming their operation to an innovative “Full Circle” model. Through this new model, the organization introduced training and education programs for people in need, helping them to break the cycle of poverty and underemployment. The organization also established a social enterprise, “Full Circle Catering & Events,” as a means to generate supplemental funds to support their mission of enhancing food security within the community. By leveraging partnerships with other nonprofit organizations and local businesses, Hunger at Home developed a multi-channel distribution network to ensure that food support reaches the broadest possible audience. The strategic transformation of Hunger at Home during these challenging times serves as an exemplary model for other food rescue organizations navigating emergency conditions, both during and beyond the pandemic.
