This paper describes a novel mentoring program implemented by finance faculty at a Jesuit university that contributes to the education of the whole person. Alumni mentors meet remotely up to seven times with an assigned student over the summer to provide a remote job shadowing experience and career guidance. In the spirit of cura personalis, the goal of the program is to extend the classroom education to a real-world setting. Analysis suggests that participants in the program get hired sooner and into better jobs than non-participants, while also advancing in their careers more quickly in the early years after graduation.
