She graduated from Ochanomizu Women’s University (B.A.) and University of Tokyo (M.Ed. and Ph.D.) She is a member of grant committee of Japan Foundation for United Nations University (UNU), a member of Follow-up Project by Japan Students Services Organization, a member of Japanese National Committee for UNESCO, a councilor of Japan-China Friendship Center and the President of Japan Comparative Education Society (JCES). Her research topics are regionalism and regionalization through transnational higher education, and international migration and multicultural education. Her recent publications include Cross-border Migration and the Nation-State: Transformation of Civil Society in the Post-Globalization World (2017, editor) Human Security and Peace Building (2017, co-author), Education Sustainable Development and Citizenship Education in the Multi-cultural Societies (2014, co-editor), and papers in English: “Sustaining Cultural Connectivity between Internationalization and Localization: The Significance of the liberal Arts Program in Higher Education” (2017), “Circulating Brains and the Challenge for Higher Education in Japan” (2015) and “The function of Regional Networks in East Asian Higher Education” (2012).
