Henrique M.
Barros holds a PhD in Business Studies from the Warwick Business School (UK), having originally graduated from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), where he also obtained his Master's degree. His training is complemented by courses offered by other institutions such as the Harvard Business School, the World Intellectual Property Organization, the National Institute of Industrial Property, and Falconi (a leading consulting firm in Brazil). Currently, he is the Director of the Masters and Doctorate courses in Management at Centro Universitario FEI (Sao Paulo campus), where he also held a pro tempore position as the Director of the Undergraduate course in Management from jun/2019 to may/2020. Before joining FEI, he had already worked as a faculty member in undergraduate, Master's and MBA courses, as Director of a Graduate Program and as a consultant in strategy, innovation and intellectual property. He is an ad hoc reviewer at FAPESP (the Sao Paulo sate funding agency) and several national and international scientific journals, in addition to being a member of the Scientific Committee of the National Association of Undergraduate Courses in Administration (ANGRAD), leading the theme on innovation and entrepreneurship. He was also a member of the Scientific Committee of the National Association of Graduate Studies and Research in Administration (ANPAD). His research interests lie in understanding i) how organizations seek to increase the returns on investments in innovation; ii) the motivations for the use (or not) of intellectual property by firms; iii) the determinants and effects of the firm's horizontal boundaries; and iv) the relationship between the scope of the firm and corporate governance, technology and innovation. He has published his research in renowned scientific journals in Brazil, such as the Brazilian Administration Review (BAR) and Revista de Administração Contemporânea (RAC), and abroad, such as Research Policy, Technovation, and the Journal of Technology Transfer.
